GerberCAT UV and
Solara Ion Flatbed UV Printers
True
Flatbed Printing
Although the printer looks like a very large beast, it actually
takes up less space than a comparable media moving printer. If you were to print
a 4'x8' sheet an a printer that feeds the media, you would need 8 feet on the
front and back to feed and catch the sheet. With Gerber's flatbed design, the
printhead moves over the materials without the need for a feeding and catching
area. The ion can print a 5'x10' sheet while only taking up a little over 12'
of space.
Cationic
Ink
Gerber's Exclusive GerberCat inks are the industries only cationic
UV inkset. Unlike other UV inks, GerberCat ink cures at a much lower temperature,
has greater adhesion, and is more durable than the typical free radical UV inks.
GerberCat ink will not flake off under extreme warping of banner, vinyl or coroplast,
and is extremely scratch and chemical resistant. Plus these special cationic
ink is more vibrant that the typical free radical UV inks. Truly the best of
both worlds.
Cold
Fire Cure = less material warping
Other printer's mercury vapor bulbs can be as
hot as 400 degrees or more and may warp heat sensitive materials such as coroplast,
paper products, PVC, and other plastics. Gerber's Cold Fire Cure lamps are tuned
to the precise wave length needed to cure the cationic ink and the temperature
at the surface of your print is only 85 degrees. Plus the Gerber ion creates
no ozone unlike mercury vapor UV lamps used in other printers.
Long
Life Bulbs
Gerber's Cold Fire Cure bulbs use 25% less energy than
other UV curing lamps, and do not have a 3 hour loss every time you powered
up like mercury vapor lamp. The ion's lamps are expected to last up to 4000
hours without replacement, as compared to a typical 500 hour replacement of
the typical mercury vapor lamp. Plus, the ion's lamps are covered under warranty
for the first year, and continue to be covered under extended warranties.
Repeatability
Since the Gerber ion is a true flatbed, it gives you
the ability to print on rigid substrates without any material movement. This
makes it extremely reliable, and repeatable. So much so, that you can print
the same image, dot-on-dot, over and over with exacting precision. The flatbed
table employs two powerful vacuums to hold material securely in place. Even
double sided printing can be achieved with ease.
Nothing touches
the surface when printing
Unlike Media feed UV printers, the vacuum table precisely holds
the media without the need for pinch rollers or conveyors to touch the media.
This means that the surface stays clean and flat without distortion.
Roll to Roll
Option
Expand the capabilities of your new GerberCAT UV or Solara ion
printer by adding the Roll to Roll option. This is not a hybrid add-on, but
an advanced solution with a pull through system that keeps material taught and
straight with less leader. The take-up reel then re-winds the media that has
already fully cured. The Roll to Roll option also expands the flatbed printable
area from 100" to 120".
